Abstract

Electropolishing is used to polish various biomaterials, such as 316L stainless steel and CoCr alloy, and coronary stent with the material of 316LVM stainless steel and selective laser melted 316L stainless steel have been electropolished successfully to a smooth and biocompatible surface. In the ASCM research, electrochemical machining (ECM) method is used to remove material from Silicon (100) and Highly Oriented Pyrolytic Graphite (HOPG) surface, and the final purpose is to get an atomic scale removal. In this research, an atomic force microscopy (AFM) tip is used as tool electrode, and the machining is conducted with controlled high humidity.
