Invited Lecture on Standards & Standardisation
Mr K. Cox from the NSAI (National Standards Authority of Ireland) was invited to give a lecture on Standards & Standardisation on November 22nd. Mr. Cox works for the NSAI (National Standards Authority of Ireland) as the Education and Promotion officer. Part of his role takes the responsibility for companies registered to ISO 9001 and 14001 in the oil and petroleum sector in Ireland. Mr. Cox also represents the NSAI on various National, European and International committees including the NSAI QMSC TC07 and ISO TC 176, both of which are involved in developing Standards in the area of Quality and Quality Management Systems.
During his lecture, Mr Cox gave a comprehensive introduction on the Standards & Standardisation covering the types, the neccesity and importance, the usage in our daily life, the significance to industries, how standards come into existence, etc. He also introduced some useful tools for searching for standards. Finally, he took management system standards as an example to give the audience a more specific explanation.
